The third installment of The Little Mermaid franchise will follow the story of Ariel's mother, Athena, and provide backstory for Ariel herself. The film is essentially a prequel, and is rumoured to also feature a plot point explaining why Triton is against the characters of Ursula. The character of Melody will not be featured in the film, although her voice actor (Tara Strong) will be playing various other parts.
The movie is pitched as a combination of drama, passion, romance, and despair, all communicated through Disney's classic use of animation and song.

I am so angry that Melody will not be in this movie. I am so happy though that it finally talks about Ariel's mysterious mother.I am also happy that it talks more about Ariel's sisters. I might not even watch it if Melody is not in this because she and Ariel along with Eric are my favorite characters and I am brokenhearted Melody wont be in this. I hope the movie makers change their mind.
